The pyproject.toml says it requires setuptools 42 from 2019. This is the first version of setuptools to support PEP517 so I get why that is picked, but it's also very old and with setuptools 70.1.0 onwards the wheel dependency is no longer needed.

I propose bumping setuptools to 70.1.0 (from 2024) and removing the wheel build dependency.
