In January we updated from Java 11 to Java 17, but Java 17 was already EOL then for those without commercial support and "Premier" support will be ending in 4 months. In keeping with our [policy](https://github.com/OpenRefine/OpenRefine/issues/7281#issuecomment-3444275355) of supporting the earliest non-EOL LTS release, it's time for us to upgrade to Java 21. Java 21 is also required for Jena 6 (#7787) Current LTS releases are: Java 25 - released September 2025 Java 21 - released September 2023 ### Proposed solution Update to Java 21 as our minimum version immediately. Add Java 26 (non-LTS release from 2 months ago) to our test matrix ### Alternatives considered Stick with Java 17, but that goes against our established policy and blocks Jena 6.
